Kardia Coastal Counseling LLC was founded in 2022 by Joe Kwiatkowski who has a desire to provide clinically sound mental health counseling to his community. The staple of the practice is the belief that redemptive relationships integrated with strong clinical foundations provide the necessary ingredients for positive life change. Our vision is to make a eternal, transformative impact by speaking life and bringing hope and healing wherever pain, suffering and brokenness exist by providing clinically sound, wholistic mental health services, community education and church consultation.

We specialize in creating a warm, accepting, engaging environment where collaboration with clients combined with a strong clinical and spiritual knowledge base produces an enhanced quality of life for those partaking in our services. Each client is a unique individual with whom we take the time and attention to understand and develop a customized treatment plan.

We understand that each individual, couple and family is unique and brings unique experiences and circumstances to the counseling relationship. Because of that we offer an integrated approach to counseling that assists clients in applying transformative wisdom that produces hope, which in turn leads one down a path of healing and positive change.

We believe and understand that healing is not merely freedom from an ailment, circumstance or situation. Rather, it involves making meaning of our suffering to where one can attain personal growth mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Because of that, we bring a worldview to counseling that is ladened with grace which is essential to experience transformative healing. Our focus on a strong therapeutic alliance between counselor and counselee allows the counselor to actively and intentionally guide individuals in re-writing their life narratives, to affirm normalcy, establish acceptance, discover meaning and experience healing.

W.E. Vine defines kardia as "man or woman’s entire mental and moral activities...the hidden springs of the personal life, and so signifies the seat of thought and feeling." The kardia (καρδιά), or heart, is the place that is central to a person's personality, their intellect, emotions and will. The heart denotes the seat of physical life, the seat of moral nature and spiritual life, the seat of grief, joy, desires, affections, perceptions, thoughts, understanding, imagination, intentions, purpose and faith.

Long story short, this "heart" is the seat of our thought processes, the seat of our emotions and the center of a person's perception of who they are and the purpose they have in this life. This is where and what we care for. Hence our name. At Kardia Coastal Counseling, we seek to provide healing and hope in those areas of the "heart" where an individual may be struggling, may feel hopeless, or may feel like they do not matter.
